Today in church, the theme Pastor Schaller preached on was profound and touched our hearts. Simply put, the idea of seeking solutions to problems instead of seeking Christ - this seems so shallow in light of the message today. "You and I are called to the God of Heaven and Earth!", our pastor said this morning. God is bigger than our problems, bigger than our religious concepts, bigger than our very real and tragic life details. He cares about us and is in all of those things... but He is greater and of more worth than these things. We labor for such small, transient elements in our lives... but there is something, Someone so much more worth our "labor". Jesus instructs us to:
"Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed." John 6:27
Does God really know best? Yes! We are his people - He is our shepherd. Let's get to know the Shepherd of our souls this holiday season, laboring for the things that will not pass away. Let's rejoice in knowing Him - even amidst our earthly frustrations and sorrows.
"Know ye that the LORD he is God: [it is] he [that] hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." Psalm 100:3
