Topic: Shell-less Egg Tier: 3, Individual Building Project / Experimentation Honorable Mention: Chris Alderson Topic: Visual Illusions Science Fair Highlights! This year our participants brought in a host of incredibly creative projects. Gabe Carrick created a magnetic rail gun capable of launching steel ball bearings. Khrystynne experimented with the coloring of common medications and their placebo effects on patients. Dylan V and Chris C attempted to train a mouse to travel through an elaborate maze. Jordan M worked on developing pendulum-powered devices, while his sister investigated how nuclear wastes are being contained and remediated in Japan. While students were viewing Sydney B's "Effects of tattoo ink on human health" poster, others were next door trying to figure out Chris A's tricky visual illusions. Did you see visitors plugged into a tablet computer smiling and frowning? They were probably hearing music transposed in various keys and observed to affect mood.
